How to set up a TradingView Alert for buy and sell signals

This guide shows you how to set up a TradingView Alert for buy and sell signals on Cryptohopper.

Prerequisites

• A Cryptohopper account.
• A paid TradingView account.

Steps

Set up the alert in TradingView

1. Log in to TradingView.
2. Search for the trading pair and exchange you use.
3. Select the candle size.
4. Select the indicator you want to use.
5. Click "Alert".
6. Fill in the "Conditions" — fields vary depending on the indicator selected.
7. Select how often you want the alert sent to your bot.
8. Fill in the expiration time.
9. Under "Notification", check the "Webhook URL" option.

Generate the alert message in Cryptohopper

10. Go to your Cryptohopper account and click "Marketplace".
11. Click "Apps".
12. Click "TradingView".
13. Use the Alert Generator to configure your alert:
    • Select the bot that should receive the alert.
    • Fill in the currency symbol (excluding the quote currency).
    • Fill in the Action.
    • Select the Order Type.
14. Click "Generate".
15. Paste the generated alert message into your TradingView alert.
16. If you want to include a Take Profit, add the parameter take_profit:X to the message.
17. Click "Create" in TradingView.

TradingView settings

Condition

Fill in the condition. Fields vary depending on the indicator selected.

Options Select how often you want the alert sent to your bot. Options vary depending on the indicator selected.

Expiration time

How long the alert should remain active.

Notification Always enable the "Webhook URL" option — this is the only supported notification method for alerts. Find the Webhook URL here.

Cryptohopper settings

Bot Select the bot that should receive the TradingView Alert.

Currency Select the currency you want to buy. You don't need to specify the quote currency — the bot determines this from the selected bot's configuration.

Action

Choose between buy, sell, or {{strategy.order.action}}. Using {{strategy.order.action}} allows one alert to handle both buy and sell signals — a buy is triggered when a buy signal is spotted, and a sell when a sell signal is spotted. This means you only need to create one alert instead of two.

Order type Select the order type your bot should use with the alerts.

Take profit Not available in the Alert Generator dropdown. Add it manually as text in the "Example Alert" field using the parameter take_profit:X.
